CARSON CITY, Nev.–Despite nine straight days of rain over western Nevada, area fire officials say they are preparing for another dangerous fire season.

ELKO, Nev.–Elko was recently named a Tree City USA community by The National Arbor Day Foundation to honor the city’s commitment to community forestry. Eight other Nevada communities re-certified their “Tree City USA†designation for their activities in 2007.

SILVER SPRINGS, Nev.–Nevada Division of State Parks personnel are gearing up for a busy Memorial Day weekend at Lahontan State Recreation Area.
Up to 15,000 people are expected each day at Lahontan during the weekend. Preparation includes increased law enforcement activities designed to crack down on underage drinking, driving under the influence, fighting and other offenses.

SILVER SPRINGS, Nev.–Although Lahontan Reservoir is only a third full, boaters are still able to enjoy plenty of access to the reservoir. It is expected that reservoir levels will remain stable well into June.
